He also leaves behind his two devoted dogs, Benny and Sweet Pea; and his niece, Hannah Anderson, whom he always thought of as a daughter.
Due to a traumatic brain injury over 10 years ago, Michael was unable to work outside of the home. However, this gave him the opportunity to help his wife care for her mother, Joyce, which he considered one of his greatest accomplishments in life.
Michael will always be remembered as a man with the kindest heart and the funniest jokes, never failing to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He had many hobbies including fishing, feeding birds, listening to 80s music, playing Yahtzee, and watching TV.
As Michael’s condition declined, he thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the porch of his mother-in-law’s family’s house at Lake Louisa. A week prior to his death, Michael reacquired his most prized possession, a Largemouth bass he caught three years ago at the lake. He was beyond thrilled to see his accomplishment finally displayed in his home.
After years of uncertainty about his faith, Michael was joyously saved by the Lord one month ago. With this decision, he lived his last days full of peace and assurance.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 6 from 12-4 p.m. at the Rivermont Fire Department followed by a meal and celebratory fellowship. Inurnment will be private.
