Dawn Marie Hockman Paxton, 56, of Stafford, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, in the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Dr. C. Wayne Woodard. Interment will follow in the Bentonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dawn was born on May 22, 1960 in Front Royal, daughter of Buddy and Margie Hockman of Bentonville. Dawn was a 1978 graduate of Warren County High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Hyundai Dealership in Alexandria. Dawn loved the outdoors. Her passion of nature, animals and especially gardening were her favorite things to do. When it came to family, they were everything to her. Dawn loved Garfield the Cat, and would collect anything and everything that had to do with him.

Surviving with her parents are her loving and devoted husband Richard W. Paxton.

Pallbearers will be Jason Guy, Woody Morrison, Terry Paxton, Bubby Fristoe, Terry Weatherholt, and Shirley Alger.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 17, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1833 Plaza Drive, Winchester, VA 22601.
