Edwin Pierce Teates, 73, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street Front Royal with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Teates was born August 21, 1943 in Luray, Virginia to the late Gilbert Teates and Mae Pierce Teates. He retired from Gruver & Cooley Construction Company after 35 years as a Superintendent. Following retirement he owned and operated Nana’s Place Restaurant in Front Royal with his wife. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, working in his yard and combining both with back yard barbeques.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Donna Bailey Teates of Front Royal; two daughters, Melissa Teates (Gordon Theisz) of Falls Church, Virginia and Lorie Teates Finnell of Front Royal; son, Edwin Teates, Jr. (Ruthanne) of Purcellville; three brothers, Warren Teates, Tommy Teates (Marge) and David Teates (Mary); seven grandchildren, Alex Teates, Delaney Theisz, Ciara Theisz, Kirsten Ruybalid (Jeffrey), Collin Finnell, Evan Teates, and Maddy Teates; two great grandchildren, Ava and Greyson Pierce Ruybalid and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be George Kerns, Wayne Sours, David Bowers, Jay Bailey, Alex Teates and Collin Finnell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Tenant, Jeff Ruybalid, Gordon Theisz and Bill Knotts.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
