Dorn Ritenour Smith Blanton “Polly” , 88, of Bentonville, VA and Winchester, VA, died at her home under the wonderful care of Blue Ridge Hospice.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery conducted by Pastor Linda Lowe.
Mrs. Blanton was born May 6, 1928 in Front Royal, VA. She was raised by her grandparents Nannie Palmer Ritenour and John Ritenour and her uncle Charles Dewey Ritenour. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Shiners Drug Store, Chandler Electric, and Shenandoah’s Pride Dairy, and retired from Peebles Department Store as store manager.
Surviving are three children Harry Smith, Jr. (Jo Anne), Patricia Stephens (Larry Gardner), and Susan Smith (Bill Dowd); three grandchildren Charles Smith, Aaron Smith, and Dawn Bolton; three great-grandsons; and two great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Smith, Sr. and her second husband Doug Blanton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” for the dedicated care that Blue Ridge Hospice and Dr. William Kerns gave to Mrs. Blanton.
