Carley W. “Junior” Derflinger, Jr., 88, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Front Royal.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 2 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Junior was born on May 8, 1930 in Warren County, Virginia to the Late Carley W. Derflinger, Sr. and Fannie Athey Derflinger. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Derflinger Franklin and brother, Amos Jack Derflinger. He was a veteran of the US Army and the US Air Force with honorable service to his Country. He retired from the National Institute of Health as an animal caretaker and, following retirement, owned a cattle farm in Star Tannery, Virginia that he worked for thirty years.
Survivors include two sisters, Anna Belle Sealock (Leslie) and Ella Mae Vorous both of Front Royal; three brothers, Gene Carson Derflinger (Debbie) of Front Royal, Roger Lee Derflinger of Alexandria, Virginia and Donald Derflinger (Judy) of Crewe, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
