Betty Jane Brown Compton, 80, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, in her home.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Sammy Campbell. Inurnment will be private.

Betty was on December 24, 1937, in Riverton, Virginia daughter of the late Arthur Kipps Brown and Mildred Bradley Brown Harrell. She retired after 18 dedicated years of service as a paraprofessional from the Warren County School System.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of fifty-one years Carl Newton Compton; two daughters Kelly Jo Racey and husband Richard S. Racey of Strasburg and Shelley Jo Compton of Front Royal; two grandsons Cody Allen Weaver and Kyler Scott Racey; one sister Bonnie Harrell Shipe of Strasburg; three nieces Lisa Rudacille, Tammy Compton and Karen Fritz; and one nephew John Kemp Taylor.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sister Barbara Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
