We were one of those families from GNCC. Kirkland was part of our family because of that. I am heartbroken hearing of his passing. I pray Gods peace over his surviving loved ones.

Kim, please know a day has not gone by that I don’t think about you, Victoria, and Richard over a dozen times. Know that others are hurting, too, and just can’t believe he was taken so early. So wish there was something I could do to ease your pain, but know right now there isn’t anything that will make things better. Please don’t hesitate to call if I can do anything at all for you. Love you all!

My dear sweet friend, My heart is breaking for you and your family. Kirkland was one of “my kids”, as I use to refer to them when I was working at the school. Losing a child is difficult. I remember that feeling of incredible love at the birth of each one of mine. It never changes. I wish I had the words to make your pain go away,- there are none. Take time to heal. I love you so much and my family does too. I will see you soon. Call me anytime. We are all here for you and your family. Love to Victoria from all of us as well.

Kirkland was a part of our GNCC race family. He was always hanging out at the campfire and cutting up with other kids. I put the graphics on one of his race quads while he rode the practice quad down in GA between the FL and GA race, we spent the whole week down there and that’s where I got to know Kirkland. He was a quiet kid but very funny when he did get to know you. He told me at least three times how great the graphics were and how thankful he was that I put them on for him. I will always cherish those race track memories we had with he and Allen, they are truly considered family and our hearts are broken. I pray for you all for peace and comfort during these difficult times. He was a great kid and will be missed by so many.

    Dear Kim,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Words can’t express how I felt when I heard of this tragedy but my thoughts and prayers were and are definitely for you and Victoria. I have many fond memories of Kirk at school when I think of him. Especially that cute but sometimes mischievous smile. I, also, think back at our differences regarding hunting. He, of course, was all in for hunting and I was against it. However, we could find humor in that difference. I saw him once in Walmart as he was buying a tree stand. I, of course, chided him about that purchase. But every time I saw a tree stand I immediately thought of Kirkland and will continue to do so forever. His memories will always be around us in many wonderful ways.
    Love to you, Linda Welk

I’m deeply sorry for your family’s loss. Kirkland and I have been friends since we were 16. I’ll always remember how we met at the gym/physical therapy, him and his dad were there together. His sense of humor, confidence, his love for his family and friends is just a few of the many traits that made Kirkland a wonderful person to be around. He was the kind of man that would reach out to offer his help or even just call multiple times a day to talk if he knew you were struggling or going through hardships, he did this many times for me which I am forever grateful for. We had a lot of good memories, laughs and even some crying times over the years. I hope he is looking down and seeing how loved he is. He was a great guy and will be missed very much! Me and my family are sending our thoughts & prayers. ❤️

    Dear Kim and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I can only imagine the grief you must be feeling at this time, and I hope God’s comforting embrace will be around you. As one of Kirkland’s former classmates, this has weighed heavy on my heart as well. He and I were in the same homeroom class for our first four years of school; it was always so nice to see his familiar smiling face in class. But the loss of a child, I know, is such a heavy burden to bear. As you are going through this period of grief, take time to remember the happy moments you shared, they will comfort you and never leave you. And always know Kirkland will be in your hearts as well as those of everyone whose lives he touched.

    Love and prayers,
    Amanda
