Anna Mae Kerns, 87, of Front Royal, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 in her home.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with the Rev. Hollis Hillman. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas.
Mrs. Kerns was born on June 25, 1931, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Lynn Guy Dodson. She retired after many dedicated years of service from the Prince William County School System. Mrs. Kerns was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church and the Warren County Senior Center. She was married to the late Elmer Lee Kerns.
Surviving are two sons Leon Kerns and Frank Kerns both of Front Royal; one daughter Nancy Lee Kerns Shaver; nine grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kerns was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter Ann Kerns Carter; and one granddaughter Milinda Lee Shaver.
Pallbearers will be Donald Carter, Jr., Jeff Carter, Jon Carter, Thomas Shaver, Jr., Matthew Lam, and John Lam, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 19, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear about Ms. Kerns. She was best friends and sister in law with my mother. Everyone always spoke well of her and everyone loved her. She had a rough life but she was a survivor and brought love and laughter to her family and friends. She will be missed.
