Bobbie R. “Bob” Souder, 85, of Front Royal, VA died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Souder was born July 1, 1930, in Pax, WV, son of the late Ira Souder and Pearl Young Burdette.

He was a 1st Class Petty Officer in the Navy and retired from Avtex in 1989. He attended Bethel Assembly of God Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 53, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 829, and the Izaak Walton League.

Surviving are his sister Barbara Streets and her companion John W. Rice of Front Royal, VA; two sisters-in-law Ruby Souder of Front Royal and Barbara Burdette of Fairfax, VA; nieces Karen Speakman and husband Donny of Winchester, VA, Pamela Williams and husband Bobby of Front Royal, Hope Ann Clark of Front Royal and her companion Kenny Kerns; nephew Rick Lee Souder of Front Royal and his companion Debbie Reil; and many other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Spurgeon “Spud” Souder of Front Royal, Pete Burdette of California, Ben Burdette of Fairfax, VA and Bill Burdette of New Market, VA.

Pallbearers will be Rick Souder, Ricky Souder, Donny Speakman, Chad Speakman, Michael Speakman, and Chuck Vincent. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Williams and Shane Streets.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 14, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
