Charles Russell Fristoe

Mr. FristoeCharles Russell Fristoe — Charlie to everyone who knew him — of Front Royal passed away on Tuesday, April 26 after a brief illness. He was 94.

He was an active member of the Front Royal Presbyterian Church.

During World War II he served in India with the U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war he served in the Air Force Reserves, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant after 33 years of service. He worked at Avtex Fibers for more than 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Loma Roope Fristoe, two brothers, John Milton Fristoe and Forrest William Fristoe, and a sister, Evelyn Grace Duckworth.

He is survived by a sister, Ruth Ellen Austin; his favorite daughter, Kathryn F. Gilliam of Front Royal; his favorite son, Terry Wayne Fristoe and his wife Patricia Fristoe of Front Royal; two grandsons, Rob Traister and Aron Fristoe; four granddaughters, Laura Gilliam, Evan Dalton, Mary Gilliam, and Kellyn Sawyers; and eight great-grandchildren.

The Reverend Edward C. Dawkins will lead a celebration of Charlie’s life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church.

The service will be followed by a reception at the church.
