Dorothy Jean “Snookie” Jones

Dorothy Jean “Snookie” Jones, 94, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Woodstock Valley Health and Rehabilitation.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11 AM at Sterling Cemetery, 45835 West Church Street, Sterling with the Rev. Taeshin Kim officiating.

Mrs. Jones was born on August 7, 1931 in Sterling, Virginia to the late Floyd and Helen Cockrell.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Jones; brother, Floyd “Buster” Cockrell; sister, Garnett S. Wrenn; daughter, Diane Lynn Howard; grandson, Dannel Bolt and great grandson, Tyler W. Bailey.  Mrs. Jones was a school bus driver for both Fairfax and Warren Counties.  She was a member of Bennett’s Chapel Church where she spent many hours quilting with the church ladies.  She was also a member of Women of the Moose and the Warren County Senior Center.  She was an avid BINGO player.

Survivors include her son, Kenny Jones; two daughters, Jeannie Supinger and Lorraine K. Bolt; brother, Harvey R. Cockrell; three sisters, Joyce “Tootie” Goode, Judy O’Leary and Brenda K. Cockrell; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bennett’s Chapel Church, 839 Rivermont Drive, Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
