Edvin “Ned” Vernon Farinholt III, 89, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his wife and family.
There will be a visitation at St. John’s from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, September 12. The funeral service will take place at 2 P.M. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 120 W Main St. Front Royal with Father Duesterhaus officiating. Following all services his burial will take place at Good Hope Cemetery.
Ned was born on June 29, 1935 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Edvin Vernon Farinholt II and Catherine Mary McSweeney Farinholt. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Joseph, and Richard “Dick” Farinholt.
Surviving Ned are his loving wife, Marilyn, of 65 years; his children, Ed, Dan, Tony (Denise), Mike (Nanette), Matt (Sharon), Lisa Arney (John), Lou (Molly), Patrick, Amanda McFadden (Tom), Dave (Regina), and Nate; his brother, Jim; his 50 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ned earned his BS in engineering from the University of Virginia and his MBA from the University of Dallas. He had a long, successful career, working with Sperry Marine, Stanford University School of Engineering, and Texas Instruments. He later transitioned to the telecommunications field, working for Digital Switch Corp., Satellite Business Systems and MCI before retiring. Along with loving involvement with his extended family, he and his wife were active in several Catholic apostolates, dedicating a major focus on family and pro-life causes.
