Edwin Jordan Caudill Jr., “Big Ed”, 74, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home.
Big Ed was born on Groundhog’s Day, February 2, 1950 in Winchester, Virginia to the late Edwin Sr. and Sylvia Caudill.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 51 years, Isabel Brock Caudill, sharing, caring, working hard and laughing together, based on love. He graduated from Warren County High School in 1970 and went on to Lord Fairfax Community College automotive education. Ed’s passion was providing for his family and enjoying his fine workings in carpentry and auto repair. He was always wanting to fix things and literally keeping the “home fires burning”. He enjoyed working with chainsaws, collecting wood and hunting and fishing. He always had a story to tell and loved to tell jokes, watch movies and he had a sweet tooth.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Edwin Caudill III and Benjamin Forest Caudill; sister, Phyliss Gailey of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Mark Brock of Michigan; sister-in-law, Frances Brock of Berryville, Virginia and many extended family members.
The family will commemorate his life in private. In lieu of flowers, sending a sympathy card or sharing thoughts and love with the family would be appreciated. Big Ed will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss
my prayers are with you Izzy and your family
Even after many years of not seeing him, he never forgot my name. Always a delightful person. Rest in Peace dear friend. Prayers of comfort to his wife & family.
My big brother Eddie will be so missed by me his sister Phyllis. He was such a joy to me. We talked often and that will be an empty spot in my heart but I will treasure all the memories that we have had over the years that we were blessed to have. Not many get the wonderful opportunity to have such a fantastic and loving brother. He loved hunting and fishing when he was young. Many times he provided fish and deer meat for our family growing up. In addition, he always was very kind to me and caring.
Sorry to hear of Big Ed’s passing. Thoughts, prayers, and lots of love to the entire family! The passing of time will help to provide closure. Let me know if I can help in any way.
I am so sorry to hear this please reach out if you need anything.
