Jennifer Lee “Jenni” Groom, 64, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at her home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Jenni was born on October 2, 1961 in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Bernard and Yvonne Thompson Hansen. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Stephen Hansen, Joseph Hansen and Michael Hansen and a niece, Teresa Hansen Burke. She worked at Skyline Caverns for over 25 years. Following her time there she worked at Home Depot where she retired after a long career. She was the kind of woman who was always there when you needed her, asking nothing in return. A devoted mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into her family and found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. Her love was quiet, steady, and unconditional — the kind you do not fully understand until it is gone. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched
Survivors include her daughter, Karla Gochenour; grandson and pride and joy, Ethan Patterson; twin brother, Jeffrey Hansen (Mary); three sisters, Cynthia Plauger, Rebecca Hansen and Pamela Coates; uncle, John Thompson (Barbara) and nine nieces and nephews, Heidi, Sara, Stevie, Renee, Chris, Victoria, Jennifer, Megan and Joshua.

To all the Hansen family, your family is in our thoughts and prayers. God be with each of you in the days and weeks ahead.
To the world she was one person, to me she was my world. Mom you will be so missed 🤍
I am so sorry to hear of Jenni passing. She was so sweet and kind and will be missed keeping her family in my thoughts and prayers
Let me start by saying Jen was my best friend,my only friend. We went through a lot together. we worked together for many years. we hung out together as well. She was the one person that I could go to and tell her anything and she never judged me for anything that I would say to her. She would offer her opinion and her wisdom and then she would just say let me know how everything turns out. And I always let her know. We would sit for hours talking about the kids the grandkids and just life in general. That day when she left us my world came crashing down. Jen was a wonderful person. she was a daughter, sister. aunt, niece, cousin, godmother, friend, but the role she held highest was being a mother and a memaw. She was so proud of both Karla and Ethan they was the 2 people that kept her going everyday. They are the ones that gave her the strength to face each and everyday with a smile. She was so proud of both of them. And her companion Cleo that was always by her side and she loved her so much, they would go outside and cleo would run back and forth in the yard while jen was doing yard work or just sitting on the porch watching cleo run with her football. And now Jen your time on earth is done but you will never be forgotten my friend your wisdom, your laughter, your words, and your memory will live in all of us until we all meet again. So RIP my friend. You will be missed but you will never be forgotten.
