Jimmie M. Underwood, Sr.

Jimmie M. Underwood, Sr., 69, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in the Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Happy Anderson and Samuel Campbell. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Post 2123 Honor Guard.

Mr. Underwood was born September 20, 1947 in Danville, son of Jesse Lee and Ellen Eileen Boyd Underwood of Danville. He was a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the Giles B. Cook Post 53 of the American Legion. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and tinkering in his workshop. Mr. Underwood was an avid Redskins fan. He was a methodist and loved his family very much.

Surviving with his parents are his wife Linda L. Underwood; a son Jimmie M. Underwood, Jr. of Front Royal; two grandsons Nathaniel Underwood and Noah Underwood; a brother Charles Underwood of Morehead City, North Carolina; and a nephew Daniel Underwood of Danville.

He was predeceased by a brother Robert Lee Underwood.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Underwood, Noah Underwood, Dennis Burke, David Summers, Jr., David Allen Summers, Jim Roop, Troy Henry, and Virgil Henry.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Summers, Sr., Teddy Stout, Lynn Armentrout, and Tony Green.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
