Joan Mary Janaro, 82, of Arlington, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Vitality Living in Arlington.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and will process to Sacred Heart Cemetery in Winchester following all services. A visitation will be held on July 13, 2021 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main St. in Front Royal.
Joan was born on December 29, 1938 in the Bronx, New York to the late John and Filomena Casella. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Walter A. Janaro Jr.
Survivors include her two sons, Walter A. Janaro III and John Janaro (Eileen) both of Front Royal, Virginia; her sister, Phyllis Boulton; her five grandchildren, John Paul, Agnese, Lucia, Teresa and Josefina; and one soon to be born great-grandchild, Maria.
She was a catechist at St. Thomas More Cathedral in Arlington from 1988 to 2004, and member of the National Association of Parliamentarians. She was on the board of directors for Christendom College from 1983 to 1994 then again from 2002 to 2010, and she was a member of Christendom College’s Advisory Board from 1994 to 2002 then again from 2010 and on.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christendom College or John the XXIII Montessori Center.
