Kathleen Frances McGovern Elar, 69, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed from this life into her eternal rest on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Winchester Medical Center with her loving and devoted husband by her side.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Inurnment will be private.

Kathleen was born November 6, 1956 in The Bronx, New York, daughter of the late John P. McGovern Sr. and Margaret McNeill McGovern.

She retired after many dedicated years as a registered nurse.

Surviving is her loving and devoted husband, Anthony Elar Jr.; son, Anthony Elar III of Front Royal; brother, John P. McGovern Jr. of Maysville, Tennessee; and two sisters, Eileen McGovern and Ann McGovern, both of Maysville, Tennessee.
