Linda Alletta James, 95 and 11 months, died on Monday, December 29, 2014, at the home of her granddaughter in Middletown.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Pastor Carlton Rogers officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery.
Mrs. James was born on January 25, 1919, in Charleston, WV, daughter of the late Elizabeth Phillips Dovel. Mrs. James was married to the late Charles Huett James, Sr.
Mrs. James was a fashion model and owned her own fashion model school. She was a big bands singer in the 1940s. She was an executive secretary at Arlington Hall and served as a hostess for the Flagship and Shoreham Hotels in Washington, D.C. She was a real estate agent. She assisted her son Dwight James in his retail businesses. She was a homemaker, a poet, and an oil painting artist.
Surviving are two daughters Tina Delafield of Warrenton and Vicki James-Coates of Front Royal; three sons Charles James, Jr. of Middletown, Dwight James of Fredericksburg, and Mark D. James of Micco, FL; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kerry James, Brandy James, Jamie James, Charles James, Jr., Glen Dovel, and Kenny Coates.
