Linda Eastham Bentley Adamson, long time resident of Front Royal, Virginia passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 after a long illness. Linda was well known for her style and panache, her keen sense of wit and her gentle kindness by all who knew her, both here and abroad.

Linda was born on February 17, 1947 in Washington, DC, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edwin Marion Eastham. She was raised in Front Royal and has resided there for the last 35 years.

Linda attended Warren County Schools and graduated from Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1969 with a degree in Marketing. Later that year, Linda married Michael Drummond Bentley with whom she had two children, Mary Katherine and Christopher Drummond Bentley. The family lived in Arizona and the Florida Keys.

In 1984, Linda and her two children returned to Front Royal. Her love of tennis led her to meet her future husband. Linda’s brother, the late Jim Eastham, arranged a tennis blind date between his sister and close friend, Eric Adamson. The next year they were married and became a blended family with Linda’s two children and Eric’s two children, Chris and Katie Adamson. Linda loved nothing more than entertaining and spending time with her family and friends.

Linda worked in real estate sales becoming a very successful agent for Weichert Realtors and was recognized as a top performer.

She was extremely active in Rotary, both at the local and international level. Eric and Linda’s work toward the eradication of Polio took them all over the world. Linda was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow for her dedication and contributions to Rotary International.

She was also a devoted member of the Calvary Episcopal Church in Front Royal for over thirty years where she served on the Altar Guild, an honorary member of the Front Royal Rotary Club and a member of the Valley Garden Club, the same club in which her mother belonged.

Linda’s legacy of faith and strength continue to shine through her husband, Eric E. Adamson, her children, step children and their families, Katherine Bentley Loppacker, Christopher Drummond Bentley, Eric Christopher Adamson and Kathryn Adamson Bowers and ten grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Edwin Eastham III and his wife Jeane, her sister-in-law, Denise Forbes Eastham, her sister, Lindsay Eastham Kielley and her husband Robert.

Linda is predeceased by her parents, the late Dr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Eastham and her brother, James Michael Eastham.

I was always struck by Linda’s kindness. How could one person have so much kindness. She was a special light in the world showing everyone how to be kind. Let’s not forget her gift to everyone. My sympathies to her family and friends.

Dear family, you have my sincere condolences. May you find comfort in God’s sure promise that there will be a resurrection as set forth in the Bible (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29), and that those who are raised up will never again be subject to misery, sickness, or death (Revelation 21:4).

My wife, Becky, and I spent many good times with Linda and Eric at numerous Rotary events and activities. Linda was a true Rotarian as she lived her life following the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”. Even though with all of her medical issues she did stray and was alway there for Eric in his pathway through Rotary. Please accept our condolences for this wonderful lady.

Linda was the very best! She was clever, warm. outgoing, and just as concerned with you as you were with her. Surely there is a special seat for her in Heaven. She deserves it.

May the family be comforted in knowing that so many others knew and loved her also.
Hold on to those happy memories.

Don and I send our prayers and love to Linda’s family. Linda’s laughter, thoughtfulness, kindness, and gentleness were backed by inherent strength. She has fought hard and lived a wonderful life filled with many memories for those left behind. She and Eric have been our good friends for over 20 years. She will be missed.

    Blessings to the whole family…
    [We] share with you the agony of your grief;
The anguish of your heart finds echo in [our] own.
[We] know [we] cannot enter all you feel
or bear with you the burden of your pain.
[We] can but offer what our love does give:
    The strength of caring,
The warmth of one[s] who seek to understand,
The silent-storm-swept barrenness of so great a loss.
This [we] do in quiet ways,
    That on your lonely path
    You may not walk alone.
