Margit Elfriede Hildegard Weigl, 82, of Winchester, Virginia passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Spring Arbor Senior Living.
Margit was born on November 26, 1941 in Berlin, Germany to the late Max Herbert Otto Ernst and Ruth Dora Elfriede Feuerherm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Herbert Weigl, and her brother, Jörg Feuerherm.
Margit and her family fled Berlin in 1943 during World War II and settled in Höchstadt/Aisch, Germany. She graduated from secretarial school with high marks and worked at Siemens Reiniger-Werke in Erlangen, Germany, for several years, where she met her husband. They married in 1968 and moved to the United States, living in New Jersey, Arizona, and Georgia before settling in Edison, New Jersey, where they raised their two children. Margit earned her N.J. Real Estate License in 1986 and worked for Coldwell Banker Real Estate. In 2005, she became an American citizen. She and her husband moved to Stephens City, Virginia in 2006, and she spent the last ten years of her life at Spring Arbor.
Margit had an infectious love of life, especially for camping and motorcycle rides. She travelled throughout Europe, the U.S., and Canada and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was active with Relay for Life of Warren County/Front Royal.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Harald Weigl and his wife Shirley of Centennial, Colorado; daughter, Claudia Pfeiffer and her husband Ronald of Front Royal; sister, Dagmar Gehrig and her husband Dieter of Bad Homburg, Germany; sister-in-law Waltraud Weigl and Alfred Wolfmair of Linz, Austria; and four grandchildren, William Weigl and his wife Iris, Angela Weigl, Walter Pfeiffer, and Jordan Pfeiffer.
A celebration of life will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
