Maxine Charlotte Braddock

Maxine Charlotte Braddock, 92, of Front Royal, VA passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

Maxine was born on July 13, 1931 in Colton, South Dakota to Russell and Marguerite Byrne.  Maxine spent her early years in Kincaid, Illinois and moved with her mother and siblings to Washington State where she completed her education and began adult life.

She married the love of her life, Cecil Gordon Braddock, in 1953 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 1, 2018, shortly before his passing.  In addition to being a devoted wife; she was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Maxine not only created a loving home life for her family full of unconditional love, but she also was an avid crafter, baker, and reader, as well as a lifelong jokester.  While experiencing trying times throughout her life, she overcame these obstacles through her strength, work ethic and wisdom, which she passed onto her family and friends.

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings, several nieces and nephews, her son – James, her daughter – Marilyn, and her grandson – Joseph “Joey”.

She is survived by her children: Theresa Velazquez (Robert), Julie Hall (Randy), Maggie Fine (Blake) and Richard Braddock (Stephen); daughter-in-law, Pam Braddock; ten grandchildren – Jamie, Sarah, Rebekah, Emily, Adam, Amanda, Joshua, Courtney, Zachary and Dylan; and eight great-grandchildren – Ethan, Lily, Nathan, Noah, Payton, Izzy, Logan and Ellie.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many family and friends who helped care for Maxine over the last six weeks of her life, as well as the staff at Warren Memorial and Shenandoah Memorial Hospitals for their caring and dedicated support to Maxine and her family during these difficult times.  The family also extends its thanks and love to Ethel Doyle, David Strulson and Stephen Culver for their unconditional support for Maxine and the family over the last five years.  In addition, the family wishes to thank Blue Ridge Hospice for its help in allowing her to pass with dignity and grace.  All of these individuals helped Maxine pass on her terms and in her home, which were her longtime wishes.  The family would also like to thank Maddox Funeral Home for the dedication and comforting spirit they have shown the family upon her passing.
