Mildred Irene Campbell Nelson, 91, of Strasburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Irene was born September 15, 1934 in Harmony Hollow, Virginia, daughter of the late Eston Campbell and Gladys Rutherford Campbell Thompson. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Cleveland and Lena Sealock Rutherford.

Surviving is a daughter, Debbie Sellers and husband Eric of Mount Jackson; one son, Eddie Nelson Jr. and wife Lisa of Toms Brook; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was married to Marion Edward Neslon Sr. for 48 years before his passing in 2003.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Brenda Lee Woodrum; sister, Evelyn Ellis; and two brothers, Gene L. Campbell and Donald L. Schuler.
