Patrick Robert Ryan, 64, of Rockland, Virginia caught a shooting star on Thursday, August 11, 2016 to go on to the next great adventure.

Pat is survived by his wife Mary Powers Ryan, his mother Louise Ryan, his sister Cathy Ryan and her husband Entezam Sahovic, his brother-in-law Bill Powers and his wife Mary Powers, his niece Becky Powers, his niece Amanda Powers Botero and her husband Nick Botero, plus a family of cousins, cousins-in-law, and friends.

Pat was a gentle man with a pure heart, a kind spirit, and an ability to create anything he put his mind to, be it a rhymed verse, an ink sketch, or a kitchen cabinet. With scraps of metal, he created playful temporary sculptures; with lighting, he created soothing spaces for living. He was a true Gemini; while acutely aware of life’s paradoxes and sorrows, he was always able to laugh, make a pun and bring a smile to those around him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. A private funeral service will be held at the Rockland Cemetery and will be private.
