Raymond Craig Winn, 59, of Front Royal, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.
Craig’s request was to have his body donated to science in hopes that research can be done on spinal cord injuries. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
Craig was born October 4, 1955 in Front Royal, VA son of Raymond Kenneth Winn and Sally Lou Grove Winn. He was a graduate of Warren County High School Class of 1974 where he excelled in athletics especially basketball and golf. He was very active as a youth being involved with Little League Baseball and the Boy Scouts. Craig was an avid hunter and truly enjoyed being outdoors with his friends and family. He was previously employed with A&P Grocery Store. He enjoyed his time as a coach with the Challengers League in Front Royal. Craig was a member of Marlow Heights Baptist Church in Front Royal.
Surviving along with his parents are his brother Stan Winn and his wife Karen of Front Royal; one sister Dina Winn and her husband John Updike of Front Royal; nieces and nephews Chris Winn (Katy) of Bothell, WA, Casey Winn (Will Doss) of Charlottesville, Amber Jones (Chris), and Troy Jenkins (Amanda Kerns) of Front Royal; great nieces and nephews Sarah Benko, Ryland Jones, and Leah Winn; and many other close friends and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Craig’s name to the Warren County Humane Society, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, VA 22630 or to a charity of your choice.
