Robert Clayton Thorne, Sr., 63, of Morgantown, West Virginia, formerly of Front Royal, passed away on October 10, 2015, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Thorne was born on July 3, 1952 in Washington DC son of the late John Joseph Thorne, Sr. and Nellie Mae Speakman Thorne.

He retired after many years as an auto mechanic.

Surviving are six children Robert Clayton Thorne, Jr. of Front Royal, Omar Dallas Thorne of Morgantown, West Virginia, Lewis Jess Thorne of Front Royal, Arlene Thorne of Stephens City, Jonathan Wayne Thorne of Rock Cave, West Virginia and Christopher Earle Thorne of Buckhannon, West Virginia; one brother John Joseph “Buddy” Thorne, Jr. of Mt. Airey, Maryland; one sister Patricia Ann Talcik of Maryland; and eleven grandchildren.

Mr. Thorne was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Summer Jade Thorne; one brother Michael A. Thorne; and one sister Judith Ann Jones.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
