Bob was born on May 24, 1952 in Bayside, New York to the late John and Viola Mavretich. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he gained expertise in telecommunications. He turned that knowledge into a 30-year career in telecom, while also completing a bachelor’s degree in economics from Fordham University.
Bob’s proudest role was as a family man. He loved gathering with his children, grandchildren and extended family for summer vacations in Bethany Beach. He also loved sports and rooting for his favorite New York teams: the Rangers, Mets and Jets. He handed down his love of athletics to his children and grandchildren through countless hours of coaching, playing and cheering from the sidelines.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years (Faith), children Robert J. (Brooke), John (Marie), Kathryn (Jordan), and Jennifer (John), and 17 of his grandchildren: Luke, Nora, Margaret, Daniel, Ellen, Juliette, John, Andrew, Clare, Anna, Michael, Kathryn, Gerald, Theodore, Timothy, Titus, and Eustace, as well as his sister Margaret. He is preceded in death by his mother Viola and father John, his brother John J., and his beloved grandson Benjamin.
