Robert Stanford Winn

Robert Stanford Winn, 90, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Front Royal.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with The Rev. Christy McMillin-Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Winn was born on May 16, 1930 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to the late Stanford I. Winn and Mildred Fulton Winn. He was a graduate of Warren County High School and Roanoke College. He served in The US Navy during the Korean War as a Communication Technician in Yokohama, Japan and Adak, Alaska. He was an employee of United Airlines in management in Rochester, New York, Washington, DC, San Diego, California and Los Angeles, California. He retired as a Management Representative for United Airlines in December of 1986 in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Winn was a member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir and Rockland Singers. He served in helping others with Habitat for Humanity.

He had three children from a previous marriage, Robert S. Winn Jr., Sharon Ann Baker and Laurie Jean Winn; four grandchildren, Amanda Carlos, Mathew Carlos, Coleman Baker and Mary Winn; two stepdaughters, Joanne Hensley (John) and Nancy Carrico (Shawn); four step grandchildren, Renee Eastwood (Josh), Edwin Hensley (Paige), Mary Hensley and Andrew Taff, USMC; five great grandchildren, Jodaci Eastwood, Jenavieve Eastwood, Jolene Eastwood, Clover Hensley and Luke Taff.

Surviving is his wife, Joan Swartz Winn; brother, Ray Winn and sister, Patricia Nakahara.

Pallbearers will be Warren Brown Jr., Edwin Hensley, Josh Eastwood, David Bryant, Pip Pipline and Stan Winn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Nethers, Ashby Crowder, John Hensley Sr., Andrew Taff, Wayne Woodard and Warren Watson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

    So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I have good memories of him and the folks at Marlow Heights. Prayers go to you and the family.
