Sgt. 1st Class William Robert Swiger, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 4, 2026.
He was born in Oakland, MD on December 28, 1939, son of the late Otis and Pauline Swiger.
He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved us all unconditionally.
Mr. Swiger served his country for 30 years, a proud Vietnam War veteran.
He is survived by his son, William Otis Swiger (Karen); daughter, Joyce Ann Martin (Sam); four grandchildren, Robert Martin (Tiffinie), Christina Bunce (Zach), Craig Swiger, and Lisa Porter (Matt); six great-grandchildren, Allison, Nick, Travis, Aaron, Jack and Tommy; one nephew, Ronnie Swiger; sister-in-law, Connie Swiger; and special niece, Debbie Ann Thayer.
Mr. Swiger was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lillian Swiger; his parents; brother, Ernie: sisters, Freda and Flora; and nephew, Rodney.
Services will be private.
Memorial donation may be made in his name to the Front Royal Volunteer Fire Department, 221 N Commerce Ave, Front Royal, VA 22630.
loved Uncle Bill so much! He was a good man and i will never forget him! He is with Aunt Lill once again dancing in heaven! I will miss him! Rest in peace Uncle Bill!
