Shirley Suzanne Meiskey

Shirley Suzanne Meiskey, 79, of Linden, Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Lavender Hills Nursing Home in Front Royal, Virginia.

A funeral service will be held for Sue at 2 P.M. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., Front Royal, Virginia. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Sue was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to the late Norman B. and Nevo N. Snader.

Surviving Sue is her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas Eugene Meiskey; her step-sons, Maurice Meiskey and Kirk Meiskey, Sr. and wife Renee Meiskey; her brother, Thomas Snader and his wife Linda Snader; two half-sisters, Deborah Schaffer and husband Jerry, and Karen Bail and husband Jim; two nephews and their families; one grandson; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and 11 cousins.

Sue graduated with her Associate of Applied Science from Northern Virginia Community College in 1974, a Bachelor in Health Information Management from Stephens College in 1983, and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Center Michigan University in 1987.

Sue was a correspondent secretary at Greater S.E. Community Hospital, Washington, 1974-1976; patient care evaluation assistant at Greater S.E. Community Hospital, Washington, 1976-1977; assistant to director at Greater S.E. Community Hospital, Washington, 1977-1980; associate manager record services at Greater S.E. Community Hospital, Washington, 1980-1987; assistant professor of coordinator health information technicians at Montgomery College, Takoma Park, Maryland, since 1987, and consultant in field, member of the advisory committee medical record administration program at George Washington University, Washington, 1988-1989.

Shirley Suzanne Meiskey has been listed as a noteworthy Health information administrator by Marquis Who’s Who.

Her avocations were traveling, reading, spending time with her family, friends and pet cats, and relaxing at the river home she jointly owned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Unit 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
