Willie Vernis Adams

Willie Vernis Adams, 91, of Front Royal, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at his home.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 12:00 p.m. at Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 75 Cedar Park Ct., Front Royal, Virginia with Pastor Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Mr. Adams was born November 21, 1933 in Pound, Virginia, son of the late Gilbert and Laura Bolling Adams.

He expressed his love for his Lord through his beautiful tenor voice and guitar playing. Over the past 40 years, he sang in three different gospel groups. In addition to his great love of music, he also loved fishing.

Mr. Adams was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Josephine Stanley Adams; two daughters, Carol Major (Rocky) of Stafford, Virginia and Wanda Adams-Martin (Beau) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one brother, Bobby Adams (Annette) of Eolia, Kentucky; and two grandsons, Kent Adam Oakey of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Logan Stanley Major of Stafford, Virginia.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Doyle Adams, Ivis Adams Hayes, Elva Adams and Vina Adams Hampton.

Pallbearers will be Beau Martin, Tim Anderson, Chris Boggs, Clifford Mullins, Logan Major, and Mike Baker.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9 from 6-8 p.m. at the church.

    jo, my heart breaks for you all but rejoices that Vernis because all his pain is gone. he would never want to leave you but he is in the presence of our almighty God. I’m lifting you in prayer and celebrating precious memories. I love you.
