Winston Urish “Uncle Winston” Richards, 83, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on February 24, 2026 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630 with Sammy Campbell officiating.
Winston was born on July 13, 1942, in Mandeville Manchester, Jamaica to the late Uriah and Francella Maude Barkley Richards. He was also preceded by his wife, Gayle Richards; his sons, Fitzroy and Leeton Richards; and all but one sibling.
Surviving Winston are his loving children, Andrea Richards, Karen Richards, Andrew Richards, Gary Richards, Keisha Richards, and Cierra Richards; his sister, Esther Mitchell; numerous grandchildren; and numerous extended relatives and friends, especially his good friends Roy and Tony.
Winston enjoyed gardening and listening to music in his spare time.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his friend, Ford, he would drive from Winchester to pick Winston up for his radiation and take him back home for two weeks while he was on leave. Also, a special thanks to Stacy, for driving Winston to appointments and for checking in on him from time to time.

I would like to give Uncle Winston’s family, our deepest condolences, from his sister n law Diah Gardiner, and his niece, Sally Gardiner. We thought a lot of him, and would come see him and Aunt Gayle. He was soo good to us! Years back, he would make me oxtail when he knew I was coming. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
