Juanita Jane Cather, 88 of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Blue Ridge Inpatient Care Center in Winchester.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Mrs. Cather was born March 7, 1938 at home in Washington, Virginia, daughter of the late Hencil and Lois Atkins Dodson.

She retired after many dedicated years from Jackson Furniture in Front Royal. She spent her retirement years helping to raise her nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family.

Surviving is a daughter, Sherry Cather Hudson and husband Jeff of Strasburg; two sisters, Alice Partlowe of Bentonville and Vicky Michael of Front Royal; four grandchildren, Jonathan Hudson (Taylor), Joseph Hudson (Rachel), Mary Hudson (Coty) and Molly Hudson (Griffin); and four great-grandchildren, Gabriel Hudson, Isabelle Clowers, Isaac Clowers and Elijah Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cary Wayne Cather; four siblings, Frank Dodson, Margaret Strickler, Frances Brown and Nancy Wood; and one great-grandson, Jonah Hudson.

Pallbearers will be Cory Michael, Cody Michael, Jonathan Hudson, Joseph Hudson, Chris Roland and Coty Clowers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4 from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
