Carla Schwarck Slater, proud mother of 2 children, 78, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed peacefully at Lynn Care Center on August 26, 2026.

She was born in Cambridge, Maryland in 1947 to Sara Jeannette Todd Schwarck and Karl Henry Schwarck. Carla graduated from South Dorchester High School in Cambridge, Maryland and worked at Airpax as a warehouse employee before becoming a homemaker and expanding her family. She later became a Pharmacy Technician, in-home healthcare worker, and retail sales associate before retiring in 2015.

Carla was a loving mother to George R. Slater II and Robin L. Schroeder, who dearly miss her and the life lessons she imparted to them. Among them was to always stick up for yourself and others, and to never give up.

Carla was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Sharon Rose Morris, her grandchildren Rosanna Jeannette Schroeder and Karl Heinrich Schroeder, and numerous other extended family members. She is survived by her two children George R. Slater II (wife, Nubia Leonor Slater) and Robin L. Schroeder (husband, James D. Schroeder), as well as her grandchildren, Sarah N. Herrmann, Rheanna K. Schroeder, Jamilyn R. Schroeder, George B. Schroeder, David Coronado, Angelica Coronado and Juan Coronado, and her great-grandchild Joseph Perez.

There will be no planned services per Carla’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carla’s name may be made to Lynn Care Center, 1000 N. Shenandoah Avenue, Front Royal, VA 22630 which will be placed in the residential account to provide gifts and supplies for residents in need.
