James Elwood Williams

James Elwood Williams, 82, of Front Royal, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Winchester Medical Center surrounded by his family as his wife was holding his hand.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Elder Forrest Atwood officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Family Cemetery in Chester Gap.

Mr. Williams was born March 1, 1938, in Rappahannock County, Virginia son of the late Sandy Cary and Lucy Ann Williams. He was a member of Mount Carmel Primitive Baptist Church and retired after many dedicated years from Rubbermaid in Winchester.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 55 years Judy Partlow Williams; two brothers Leo Williams and Haywood Williams both of Chester Gap; two sisters Jessie Wines and Mattie Frazier (Charlie) both of Chester Gap; special nieces who were very dear to his heart Kimberly Corbin, Stephanie Taylor, Haley Taylor, Lacey Taylor, Connie McDermott, Roxzy Jennings, Sherri Ferguson, Rhonda Williams and Connie Williams; numerous other nieces and nephews and a very special sister-in-law Joan Partlow Corbin.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers Paul Williams, Dalton Williams, Downing Williams, Garfield Williams, Lynwood Williams and Lawrence “Pig” Williams; and two sisters Roxie Williams and Naomi “Sister” Dulin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9 from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Grove, Sam Baggarly, Fred Partlowe, Tim McDermott, Larry “Mutt” Williams, Dwayne Weaver and Tony “Tater” Williams.

The family has requested no flowers and due to the COVID restrictions ALL are required to wear a mask during the service and at the graveside.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church c/o Reda Johnson, 1064 Redman Store Road, Luray, Virginia 22835.

    I send my condolences to Sister Judy and all of his family I heard that he was sick and prayed for his recovery, but the Lord had other plans. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you as go through this sad time. Brother Elwood and Sister Judy lived below my Mother (Evelyn Yates). She lived at 505 Grand Avenue. Their house was in sight of hers.

    SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT ELWOOD’S PASSING. WILL MISS SEEING HIM AT THE REUNION. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS WILL BE WITH YOU DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME.
