Joyce V. Coverston

Joyce V. Coverston, 77, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Winchester Medical Center as a result of Covid complications.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Front Royal Baptist Temple with Pastor Danny Clegg, Pastor Carl Menefee and Br. Don Hicks. Interment will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Masks are highly recommended for the service.

Joyce was born October 23, 1944 in Front Royal, Virginia, daughter of the late Grace S. and Lowell W. Vaughan. She lived her entire life in and around the Front Royal area.

She attended Warren County Public Schools and was a graduate of Warren County High School Class of 1963. She participated in High School band and the Chorale Club. Joyce was a member and pianist of Front Royal Baptist Temple. She was director of the Rockland Singers an inter-denominational group based at Rockland Community Church. This group sang at nursing and retirement homes throughout the area as well as at special events.

In 1998 she was elected as first President of the newly formed Valley Glass Hoppers Antique Glass Club and held many offices and positions throughout the years to the present.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 58 years, James Coverston, Sr.; one son, James Coverston, Jr.; sister, Jean V. Leonard; niece, Terri Grove and husband Bill; nephew Tim Elliott and wife Deanna; as well as an extended family of cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Drew Coverston, Paul Coverston, Mike Learch, Ben Trimmer, Bill Grove and Tim Elliott.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, January 8 from 10-11 a.m.

    We are so sorry to hear of Joyce’s passing. Joyce and Jim were such good neighbors of our parents (Phyllis and Larry Howe). She will be sadly missed.
