Barbara Louise Brooks Dewey (Shorty) passed away on Saturday evening, December 19, 2015, at Consulate Health Care Facility in Woodstock, Virginia.

At the time of her death she was 70 years old. She resided in Front Royal, Virginia.

Barbara was born October 30, 1945 in New Albany, Indiana. Her parents were Lloyd Sullivan and June Zimmerman (both deceased). She had two younger siblings Danny Sullivan and Joey Baurle (both deceased). She was married to Nathan T. Brooks (deceased).

She remarried, and her current husband was James W. Dewey. She is survived by three children, Pamela Jean Brooks Ratigan, Kenneth E. Brooks, and Teresa Brooks Depugh, and nine grandchildren, Timothy P. Ratigan, Jr., Amber Lynn Brooks, Brandon T. Gue, Rebekah Lynn Gue, Kaley Lynn Brooks, Daniel S. Brooks, Matthew Wadel, Daniel Wadel, and Allison DePugh, and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt W. Brooks Dewey, Gabriel Dean Ratigan, and Dean Michael Stinson.

She graduated from Wakefield High School, Arlington, Virginia.

During her life Barbara worked in Restaurant Management, most notably at the South Street McDonald’s in Front Royal, Virginia. She also loved to bowl and was a member of several bowling leagues during the 80’s.

Later in her life she dedicated much of her time spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on December 28th at 6:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, Virginia. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
