George Jackson Williams, 81, of Strasburg, Warren County, Virginia, died Sunday, December 20, 2015, in his home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Williams was born March 8, 1934, in Huntly, Virginia, son of the late Marvin and Margaret Coffman Williams. He retired from the railroad. He was a U. S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict.
He had an avid interest in politics. He supported gun rights and the NRA as well as the American Indian Foundation.
Surviving are his wife Lennis Elizabeth Wood Williams; a daughter Patricia “Susie” Militello of Front Royal and her husband Cosimo; two sons Glenn Douglas Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada and his wife Cathy and David A. Williams of Waterlick; two brothers Eugene Williams of Front Royal and Marvin Williams of Culpeper; four grandchildren Loretta Abbott, Angela Leizear, Rebecca Militello, and Dale Williams; and three great-grandchildren Nathan Edmonds, Andrew Edmonds, and Tyler Militello.
He was preceded in death by a brother Melvin Williams and a sister Mary Margaret Dawson.
Pallbearers will be John Abbott (grandson-in-law), Richard Leizear (grandson-in-law), Cosimo Militello (son-in-law), Nathan Edmonds (great-grandson), Dale Williams (grandson), and Gordon James (friend).
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
