Carolyn Rudacille Powell

Carolyn Rudacille Powell, 73, originally of Bentonville, VA went home to be with the Lord while resting peacefully under Hospice Care at Envoy Nursing Facility in Winchester, Virginia on Thursday, October 29th, 2015.

She was born on May 2, 1942 to the late Ernest Phillip and Ethel Duke Rudacille of Bentonville, VA.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William “Billy” Powell, who she loved with all her heart and longed to see again.

She is survived by their only daughter, Sheree Crystal Powell Jennings and her husband, Ronnie of Bentonville, Virginia and a sister Colleen Rudacille Bass of San Antonio, Texas. “Grandma” loved her grandchildren and their babies so much and they loved her right back! She will be deeply missed by Shavon Lynnette Clatterbuck and husband Adam and their daughters, Abreonia Star and Sareiya Rayne Clatterbuck, Shaddoe Wayne Mathews, Schatae Carrington Jennings and her son Camden AlecZandr Skyh Jennings and Sterling Hunter-Montgomery Jennings and his son Brycen Hunter-Miles Jennings.

She has many brothers and sisters in-law and nieces and nephews that she loved as well as extended family that she considered her own.

Carolyn worked as a secretary for Albert S. Wines Construction for many years as well as an Assistant Administrator for Clearview Nursing Home. Most recently she cared for Special Needs Children with Autism for the Public School System. She enjoyed the children so much! She was a woman of strong faith in God and trusted Him to sustain her daily. She had been given a gift from God and she began sharing that gift at age 11 by playing the piano for many churches and events over the years until her body was physically not able to do that any longer. She played with all her heart while she could but even when she wasn’t strong enough to play with her hands, her heart became her Instrument of Praise to Him.

There will be a Celebration of Life and Home Going on Tue Nov 3rd at 11am at Chester Gap Baptist Church in Chester Gap, Virginia with Rev. Mike McCartney officiating. Pallbearers are Shaddoe Mathews, Sterling Jennings, Adam Clatterbuck, Ryan Amos, Bill “Bear” Campbell and Kevin Jeffries. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Frazier, Frankie Knight, Gregory Mathews, Alton Parker Mauck, Jr, John “Jr” Willingham, and Wally Wines. All of her family and friends are invited to join at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, Virginia on Monday evening at 6-8pm to share their memories together.

Her earthly body will be laid to rest at Bentonville Cemetery, Bentonville, VA.

Memorial contributions in Carolyn’s honor may be made to Servant’s Heart and Hands Church for Outreach Music Ministry.
