Charles E. Lake, 83 of Front Royal, Va, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend left this earth on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Charlie was born in Warren County, Va on August 25, 1934 and is preceded in death by his father, James O. Lake, his mother Daisy B. Lake, and his brother J. Nolan Lake.

“Pops” is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Paige Lake, a daughter Rhonda Lingo, her husband Danny Lingo, a daughter Robbin Lloyd, and H.T. Lloyd. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Melissa Lloyd, her significant other, Carey Saffelle; a grandson, Justin Lloyd, his wife Amber, and a great granddaughter, Hayden. Included in his family, he has a sister Dorothy Finnell and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie served with the Virginia National Guard while he began his career with American Airlines where he dedicated 36 years before retirement. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and Nascar that has left a lifetime of laughter and memories for all of those who knew him.

Charlie showed his love through small acts of kindness, larger acts of sacrifice, and had a deep commitment to both friends and family. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his love for finding humor in his everyday life, and his slyness for grabbing the first deviled egg, and the corner brownie.

Family night will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 from 6 – 8pm at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, Va. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 21st, 2017 at 11am at Panorama Memorial Gardens on Strasburg Road in Warren County, Va. Pallbearers will be Justin Lloyd, H.T. Lloyd, Danny Lingo, Gary Lake, Carey Saffelle, David Lake, and Bobby Finnell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Campbell, Lynn Armentrout, Bill Hooten, and Ronald Rossi.
