Daniel Clark Potter

Daniel Clark Potter, 18, of Front Royal, VA died on Monday, August 3, 2015 in Loudoun County, VA due to a work related accident.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 9, at 3:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Daniel was born September 29, 1996 in Martinsburg, WV son of Brian Clark Potter and Nicole Potter of Front Royal, VA. He was a 2014 graduate of Skyline High School and worked for Luck Stone as a miner. Daniel loved engaging in conversations about space and the universe.

Surviving along with his parents are his sister Sarah Potter of Front Royal; maternal grandmother Naomi J. “Bubba” Filitsky of Uniontown, PA; paternal grandfather Richard C. “Pappy” Potter of Connellsville, PA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Joseph E. “Pappy” Filitsky.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggests that memorial contributions be made to these organizations that were important to Daniels’ life, The Planetary Society, 60 South Robles Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101-2016, Morgan County Observatory Foundation, 81 Sparrow Trail, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411, or to Furry Friends, PO Box 13, Woodstock, VA 22664 (please write Daniel’s Dream in memo space).

The Potter Family would like to extend extreme gratitude to all of the Fire and Rescue personnel that assisted in the recovery efforts of Daniel, The Luck Stone “Family”, especially Chaplain Dennis Hanrahan of the Loudoun County Dept. of Fire and Rescue and Deputy J.C. Holben of Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
