David “Dave” Brian Winn

David “Dave” Brian Winn, 62, passed away on May 19, 2021, at his home in Front Royal, Virginia, after a brief battle with cancer.

Dave was born to Daniel Martin Winn, Sr., and Ann Nymberg Winn in Washington, DC on September 28, 1958. He grew up in Maryland and Minnesota and moved to Virginia in 1980. In August 1992, he met the love of his life, Cindy, who he truly cherished.

Dave started his woodworking career in the early 1980’s and spent the last 27 years as a sales/field representative for Hayes Stair Company in Purcellville, Virginia. He was an exceptional craftsman and made many items and heirlooms for family and friends. He especially enjoyed making Cub Scout derby cars with his son Michael. Dave was well known and respected within the new home industry for his decades of selling stairs to builders across the Northeast region.

Dave loved listening to music and accumulated a large collection of albums and CDs throughout his life. He enjoyed attending NASCAR races and rooting for his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed camping and kayaking on the river and, more recently, playing a game online with ‘new friends’ from around the world. Dave made many lifelong friends and was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother.

Dave is survived by his wife Cindy Jean (Bell) Winn, and son Michael Ryan Winn; mother Ann Winn of Gainesville; brother Douglas Winn and wife Sarah of Leesburg; mother-in-law Bette Bell of Rupert, Idaho; family friend Lyle Pendy of Leesburg; and the family’s dog Max.

Dave was preceded in death by his father Daniel Martin Winn, Sr., brother Daniel Martin Winn, Jr., sister Dana Winn Jenkins, and father-in-law Larry Bell.

A funeral service is scheduled for June 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 15305 Vint Hill Road, Nokesville, Virginia. A light reception will follow with covid guidelines in place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, Front Royal, Virginia.

I’m saddened to hear of this great loss. No doubt many will say the same. Dave was a great guy to talk to and was a great person to work with. One of a kind! His sense of humor made my frustration lighten when I was having issues in the field. He will be greatly missed.
