Donald R. Hicks, 83, of Front Royal, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Front Royal Baptist Temple with Pastor Carl Menefee officiating. Interment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester.
Mr. Hicks was born July 7, 1941 in Caretta, West Virginia, son of the late Leslie and Ruth Peck Hicks.
He was a United States Air Force veteran and graduated from Bethlehem College. He was in the Baptist Ministry for over 50 years.
Mr. Hicks owned and operated Power-Comm until 2010, when his son, Mark, took over the business.
“Mr. Wonderful”, as he was known, was a true man of God. He strived daily to hand out tracks and lead the lost to the Lord. Don’s family and friends meant everything to him. He loved making everyone laugh and smile.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of over 62 years, Patsy L. “Pat” Hicks; one daughter, Robin Hicks Bayne of Front Royal; two sons, Mark Hicks and wife Mandy of Front Royal and Mike Hicks and wife Mary of Stephens City; one brother, Duane Hicks and wife Bonnie of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Teresa “T.K.” Purbaugh of Rockwood, Pennsylvania and Betty Sue Micklo of Baltimore, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Johnny Hicks.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Baxter, Mike Hicks Jr., Steven Bayne, Leslie Bayne Jr., Tyler Bayne and Alic Hicks.
Honorary pallbearer will be Josiah Hicks.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 2 from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
