John William “Johnny” Dehart

John William “Johnny” Dehart, 69, of Strasburg, Virginia and formerly of Winchester and Front Royal, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at his home in Strasburg.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens in Waterlick.

Johnny was born October 4, 1956 in Washington D.C. but was raised in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, son of the late John William and Enomia Agnes Burns DeHart.

Being a superior banjo player, Johnny performed with the bluegrass band Shenandoah Spirits along with his buddy, Wayne, and lifelong friend, Joe Dioso.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 30 years, Margurite Childress Dehart; five daughters, Nina Dehart of Maryland, and Norma Dehart, Patricia Dehart, Michelle Dehart and Kayla Dehart, all of Florida; one sister Mildred “Millie” LaPrad of Martinsburg; one brother, Paul Dehart of Huntington, Maryland; and numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tommy Dehart, Jake Dehart and Alfred Dehart; and one sister, Margaret McIntire.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 28 from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
