James Henry “Radar” Ashby, was born on March 23, 1949 in the District of Columbia. He entered into eternal rest Sunday, April, 19, 2026 at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
A homegoing service will be held for Radar at 12 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630. The family invites guests to visit one hour prior to the service. Following all services the interment will take place at Good Hope Cemetery.
He was the youngest born child to the late Frank Ashby and Margaret Russ Ashby. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Brenda Wooddell Ashby; his sister, Mary Travis; and his brother, Thomas Ashby. One surviving brother is William Ashby (Sandra) of the District of Columbia.
He attended Criser High School and loved the outdoors. He had a deep compassion for automobile mechanics and fishing. Radar was employed by ISI (Irrigation Services Incorporated) for many years, until unforeseen circumstances.
Radar Leaves behind five daughters, Janice Woodruff (Brian), Jacqueline Lansdown (William), Yolanda Ashby, Nicole Wooddell, and Courtney Mauney (Terressa); one step-daughter, Joyce Tigney; two sons, Robert Wooddell and the late Quentin Diggs (Lesa); 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter who he loved dearly, Shakira Porter.
As he enters into his final resting place, Radar also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and long-time dear friends who will miss him dearly.
Pallbearers are James Starks III, Jeremy Starks, Jamal Starks, Jashar Ashby, Joshua Diamond, Elijah Wooddell, Quentin Diggs and Luis Feliciano.
