Linda Irene Linger, 63, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away at her home on November 9, 2025.
She was born on February 2, 1962 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to the late Kenneth and Carolyn Wagner. Linda grew up in Wallingford, Pennsylvania and Radford, Virginia before moving to Front Royal and graduating from Warren County High School in 1980.
For many years she was co-owner, director and teacher at Grasshopper Green Preschool in Strasburg, Virginia. She most recently worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. However, her greatest joy was being a mom to her children and “Nana” to her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Brian Linger (Jennifer) of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Heather Wilson (Drew) of Danville, Virginia, Amanda Bass (Nick) of Front Royal, and Kevin Linger (Julia) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Caroline, Avery, Patrick, Everly, Conor, Madelyn, Annie, Marjorie, and Evelyn; brother Richard (Louisa) of West Chester Township, Ohio and two sisters Barbara Koerner (Peter) of Staunton, Virginia, and Susan DeHart (Tony) of Radford.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Warren County, Virginia.

Linda and I started at the same time at FEMA. She was the nicest person!! Always saying hello and smiling and very helpful when we had work issues. We both worked in Finance and had the opportunity to work together occasionally. She will be so very much missed!!

So sorry to hear about the loss of Linda. She was a wonderful person. I can remember all the fun times in Lewistown at the holidays . Richard,Barb and Susan you’re in my thoughts and prayers.
This is a real shock! Never knew she was even sick! I did some work for her awhile back and was one of the nicest people I ever worked for! May she RIP and my condolences to her family!
I am so sorry to hear about Linda. I was a friend of Linda’s from the Press in Strasburg. My sister in law bought Grasshopper Green from her back in the day. We were always friends. She was a wonderful person. My heartfelt sympathy to your whole family. She was such a sweet and kind person.
