He was always so pleasant. Working with him was such a joy and he was never too busy to speak with me anytime I needed to discuss issues about his associates. Prayers go out to his family and close friends. His Harris Teeter Family will certainly miss him.

We are sending our love, strength, faith, prayers, condolences, and hugs to the entire Kentopp family. we had the pleasure of knowing Nick, since we were young kids. His father was our pastor, and our families became good friends. Nick was 1 year older than me, and he loved to tease and pester, unless he wanted something you had. We spent many a Sunday together in Sunday School, birthdays, get togethers and picnics, summers at the pool, Vacation Bible School, and many trips or trips to see them after they moved. Nick will be missed, and may all these memories remain alive in our hearts, minds, souls, and stories.

Nick gave me my first job at the age of 16, and what a time we had. We met again in my early twenties and that’s where I gained my fondest memories with him. Even through the years when we weren’t at the same store, he would always check on me and whenever I was lucky enough to see him he greeted me with a huge smile and made me feel like he was proud of me. I’ll never forget him and will surely miss him. This now 30 year old will always remember the lessons the 16 year old was too young to understand.

To the Kentopp family, Nick was a person that was deeply rooted in his role no matter what capacity he was in. He loved Harris Teeter and was always involved in every aspect of the business. We worked together in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area, and he always had that serious side to him, he was just all business and no nonsense but that was partly why he was so successful. We will have a large void here to fill but the beauty of that is that Nick is celebrating not only the life he had here on earth, but he is celebrating eternal life with his maker and that in itself is a true testament of a life well lived. When I think about Nick and all that he did for others, he clearly reminds me of this passage in the Book of Revelation 14:13
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.’

Your Harris Teeter family is praying for your comfort and peace during this exceedingly tough time!

I worked with Nick many years in Raleigh as one of his vendors from Mondelez. Nick was tough, no nonsense, but always treated me well and I grew to respect him. When he got promoted onward I did end up missing him. Prayers and condolences to Nicks family. He was a hard worker, at his store almost everyday, it’s unfortunate he was robbed of retirement.

I worked with Nick when I started at Harris Teeter as one of his co managers. There hasn’t been a more influential person in my career in grocery other than Nick. Nick often kept in touch even when we stopped working together. Nick was a great person and truly someone who would take the coat of his back to help anyone. I will truly miss our conversations about life.
