Louise Sowers Bunch Johnson, affectionately known as “Weezee”, 88, of Front Royal, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, in her home surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Marlow Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bunce officiating. Interment will follow in the Rockland Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born on November 1, 1927, in Success, Warren County, Virginia, daughter of the late Robert Lee Sowers and Beryl Manuel Sowers. She retired after many years from Quality Inn as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Marlow Heights Baptist Church, Front Royal Lions Club, the Royal Ramblers Square Dancing Club, and was an avid and competitive bridge player for many years. Mrs. Johnson was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are one daughter Rae Bunch Wines and husband Bruce of Front Royal; one son Walter Gary Bunch and wife Tammy of Front Royal; two step-daughters Jacque DeCristofaro of Front Royal and Cheri Moran and husband Phil of Staunton; five grandchildren Troy Bunch, Garrett Bunch, Shane Wines, Ryan Wines and Deven DeCristofaro; four great-grandchildren Tylor Evans, Remi Wines, Kayden Hysong and Karsyn Bunch; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Walter C. Bunch and her second husband H. Reinhart Johnson; and fourteen siblings, her twin sister Eleanor Sowers, Virginia Sowers, Mildred Cunningham, Alice Grobauer, Julia Evenson, Clarice Mae “Cass” Malmberg, Katherine Berry, Allyne Sowers, Myra Wissinger, Henry Marcus Sowers, Robert Lee Sowers, Jr., Charles Thompson Sowers and Edward Earl Sowers.
Pallbearers will be Troy Bunch, Shane Wines, Ryan Wines, Deven DeCristofaro, Garrett Bunch, Tylor Evans, Kayden Hysong and Remi Wines.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
