Marcelle Green, 91, of Front Royal, VA, formerly of Falls Church, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Loving Arms Assisted Living.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Quantico National Cemetery conducted by Father John Alderson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, VA.

Mrs. Green was born August 23, 1924 in French, Morocco, daughter of the late Prospero Benghouzi and Emily Pinto Benghouzi. She immigrated to this country in December 1946 to marry William Chester Green. They met in Casablanca during WWII while Lt. Green was stationed there and she was working in the US Army office as a bi-lingual secretary. They were married for 60 years until Mr. Green’s death on June 1, 2006.

Mrs. Green continued her career in this country as an office manager utilizing her bilingual abilities. In addition to her love of family and friends, her interests and skills included couture sewing, French cooking and painting still life pictures. Additionally, she was an avid traveler who explored cultures and wrote about her experiences.

Surviving are her loving children, Ward W. Green (Linda) of Charlotte, NC, Claire G. Brandon (David) of Front Royal, VA and Randall S. Green of Richmond, VA.; and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Wesley and Marcelle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any of the following organizations: the Parkinson’s Foundation, Leukemia Foundation, Diabetes Foundation or the Scleroderma Foundation.
