MARGUERITE MARIE BIRD THURSLAND

Marguerite Marie ThurslandMarguerite Marie Bird Thursland, 94, of Front Royal died Friday, January 2nd at Warren Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.

Mrs. Thursland was born November 11, 1920 in Bristol, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late David and Margaret Coffey Bird. She graduated from LaSalle Junior College in Newton, Massachusetts in 1938. Mrs. Thursland worked for a number of years as the Administrative Assistant to the President at AT&T in New York, NY. She retired as the Personnel Coordinator of Stamford Hospital, Stamford, CT. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano, and she was an accomplished ballroom dancer.

Mrs. Thursland was dearly loved and will be missed by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her seven children and their families: Barbara Glenn and her husband Ross, Lacey’s Spring, AL; Patricia Hagerty and her husband Thomas, Chevy Chase, MD; Margaret Thursland and her husband John Peter Berghuis of Front Royal, VA; Arthur Thursland and his wife Laures, Newtown, CT; Carol Radabaugh and her husband Mark, Chesapeake, VA; Virginia Newbury and her husband Scott, Berlin, CT; and Christine Winterkorn and her husband Joseph, Front Royal, VA. She was the proud grandmother of Jennifer and Meredith Nelson, Elizabeth and Matthew Hagerty, Caitlin and William Thursland, Eric and Alexander Radabaugh, and Christopher and Jayne Winterkorn. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Leigh Thursland.

The family will receive visitors at Maddox Funeral Home, West Main Street, Front Royal on Wednesday, January 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Maddox Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Thursland, Matthew Hagerty, William Thursland, Eric Radabaugh, Alexander Radabaugh, and Christopher Winterkorn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Hospital Foundation or Samuels Public Library.
