Mary Butler Murphy, 74, of Front Royal, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017, in the Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Clegg officiating. Interment will follow in the Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Mrs. Murphy was born July 7, 1943 in Brunswick, MD, daughter of the late Raymond Sherwood Butler and Hattie Louise Kirby Butler. She married the love of her life Thomas H. Murphy, Jr. on September 6, 1958.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 58 years Thomas H. Murphy, Jr.; one daughter Tammy Louise Murphy of Front Royal; two sons Duane T. Murphy and Kim of Front Royal and Raymond L. Murphy and Leasa of Front Royal; one sister Elizabeth B. “Sissy” Atkins of Front Royal; one brother Charles R. Butler, Jr. of Rogers, AR; and five grandchildren Ashley Murphy, Bridgette Murphy, Christopher Murphy, Christian Murphy, and Caleb Murphy.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Atkins, Donnie Atkins, Johnny Atkins, Tony Green, Gary “Clerb” Clark, and Timmy “Teddy” Stout.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Butler, Richard Strunk, Earl Menefee, Randy Lamb, Larry King, John Kuser, Calvin Payne, Herbie Waddell, and Herbie Patterson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
